Tanah Merah is a small, quiet locality in eastern Logan, tucked between Loganholme, Shailer Park and Cornubia. It is residential rather than commercial, with established housing from the 1980s and 1990s on reasonable blocks, and a good deal of tree cover for a suburb its size.
Small suburbs tend to get skipped by trades that work off a radius rather than a map, which is the main reason this page exists. The roofs here need exactly what their neighbours need: the rigid cement ridge pointing from the original build has started cracking, and the concrete tile surface has dulled and gone porous. Repointing in flexible compound and a clean followed by sealer and two membrane coats is the standard package, with tile repairs where caps have let tiles slip.
Tree cover means the usual two additions. Lichen takes the shaded pitch first, so a moss and lichen treatment belongs in the clean rather than being sold as an extra afterwards. And gutters and valleys carry leaf litter year-round, so clearing them is part of the job, not a favour.
Because this is a small locality, booking alongside neighbours sometimes works in your favour. A crew already set up in the street has no travel to recover, and roofers will often price a second house in the same visit better than a standalone job. It is worth asking.
In Queensland, building work valued over $3,300 generally requires a QBCC licensed contractor. Ask for the licence number and check it on the QBCC register.
Frequently asked questions
Will a roofer actually come out to a small suburb?
Yes. The roofers we work with service the City of Logan, and Tanah Merah is comfortably inside the area they already drive through.
Is it cheaper if my neighbour books at the same time?
Often a little, because set-up and travel are shared. It is not a discount you can demand, but it is worth mentioning when you ask for the quote.
What if the roof turns out to be fine?
Then you have had a free inspection and a maintenance list. A quote through this site carries no obligation, and that includes being told to do nothing.
